Learn to make an Easy Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder that will be a fun way to give a gift to your favorite coffee drinkers!
This weekend I had my family over for a Cricut cutting birthday party! So, naturally, I wanted to make birthday cards with my Cricut. And I knew I could make a way for the birthday cards to hold gift cards. Looking around online, I found that a number of people had made coffee cup shaped cards, with the gift card attached to the “cup” inside the “cup wrapper.” It ended up looking like a take-out coffee cup from a coffee shop. So cute! But I couldn’t find a file to download anywhere! So what do I do? I design my own based on an actual coffee cup and my own idea of what would look and work best. And I’m happy to share the files and tutorial for a Coffee Cup Gift Holder with you today so you can make your own, too!
There are actually two different ways you can make the gift card holder itself. One is with simple slits cup into the inner cup—this is the easiest. The other way is with a separate gift card holder pocket. I will show you how to do both.

Materials to Make Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder
- Cardstock (I used plain white cardstock for the inner cup and lid, and a sheet from The Delightful Stack by DCWV for the outer cup and gift card holder.)
- Corrugated cardboard
- Tacky glue
- Your gift card
- A pen (to write a name on the label)
- A way to cut your paper (I used the Cricut Maker cutting machine but they can also be cut on a Cricut Explore or Cricut Joy)
- Design #24 – My free SVG design files (available in my free resource library—get the password by filling out the form at the bottom of this page)
How to Make a Take-Out Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder
Step 1: Get My Free Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder SVG File

Step 2: Prepare Your Coffee Cup Design File for Cutting
The Coffee Cup Gift Card design has four separate SVG files that you will see when. you unzip the folder. You can upload and cut the files you want.
Here is what the coffee cup gift card holder SVG cut file will look like when you upload it to Cricut Design Space:
Note that if you do not want the slits or the words “Filled Up For You!” you can hide those layers in Cricut Design Space or simply stop your cutting machine after it finishes cutting out the lid.

Step 3: Cut Your Coffee Cup Design
Load your materials onto the appropriate cutting mat, select the proper cutting material, load your blade as directed, and cut your design.
For the Corrugated Cardboard (Coffee Cup Wrap layer), I used a Cricut LightGrip mat and the Deep Point Blade with the Corrugated Cardboard setting.
For all the other layers which I cut out of cardstock, you can use a LightGrip or StandardGrip mat and the Fine Point Blade with the Medium Cardstock setting.

Step 4: Assemble Your Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder
Remove all of your materials from the mat. (I have a tip to help minimize any curling or ripping as you remove cardstock from your cutting mat.)
Glue the lid to the top of the inner cup. It fits right over it, easy peasy.
To attach your gift card, you can either insert it into the slits or you can glue the cardholder pocket. To use the pocket, place the card pocket face down, put your gift card over it as shown in the photo below, and carefully glue around it. Now pick the pocket and card up together and place them on your inner cup, then press down. I recommend you glue it with the card in it like this because that way you know your card fits. You can turn the whole glued cup over and press down from the back to help the pocket stick to it better.
Step 5: Assemble the Outer Cup
Fold the outer cup layer in so it forms the shape you see below.
Glue the bottom edge, as well as one edge of the outer cup, as shown below. Fold back up and press until the glue dries.
Fold the wrapper around the outer cup and glue both the edge of the wrapper. I also recommend you glue a strip below the wrapper (as shown in my photo) to prevent the wrapper from slipping down the cup.
Step 6: Personalize Your Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder
Write the name of the recipient on the label.
Glue the top label to the bottom label, then glue both to the wrap.
And there you have it … a take-out coffee cup gift card holder! Isn’t it cute? My nieces loved the ones I made for them. And my sister thinks these would make a great office and neighbor gifts.

Hi, Sheena! Yes, it sounds like you did not attach the text layer to the cut layer. You need to do that, or they won’t be attached when they cut. 🙂

How do you get the Filled Up For You to cut out of the inside of the cup? When I go to make it it has the letters just being cut out of black and not cut into the white cup inside like yours shows. I tried to slice the letters out but it won’t let me.
Hi Kathy! If you are looking for it to be cut out of the white layer, select both your text and cup layer and choose slice, and then remove the layers to reveal the cutout. If you still have trouble, email my team at [email protected]
